Rave of the moment: Lamé Fabric

Hello everyone and can I still say Happy New Year?🙈 Since it’s my first post here in the year 2020.
How has the new year been so far? Hope you are smashing your new year goals already?

Well, it’s 2020 and a lot is happening in the fashion/fabric scene especially in Nigeria and Africa generally. So if you are a lover of African fashion, get ready for a dramatic turn as we are bringing new Fabrics and fashion houses are churning out amazing pieces which I will be sharing from time to time here.

So today, I’m sharing one of the new entrants that made way into our fashion scene late last year and it’s taking over at the moment because of the versatility of the fabric. It’s the Lamé Fabric 💥

This is a shiny fabric made with metallic threads. It’s lustrous, smooth, with a fluid drape, semi-sheer/opaque.
Lamé comes in different varieties, depending on the composition of the other threads in the fabric. Common examples are tissue lamé, hologram lamé and pearl lamé.

So if the memo says sparkle and shine, Hollywood glamour or you just want to shine bright like diamonds to your next event, the Lamé fabric is your best bet.

And it’s so versatile that you can make amazing dress styles in different lengths with it like wrap dresses, Kaftans, even our ever green iro and buba, boubous, jumpsuits and many more that I will be showing you samples of but first let’s take a look at the fabric:

Now let’s see some gorgeous style inspirations on these beautiful ladies creatively designed from this stunning fabric:

Metallic threads should never be exposed to high heat in a clothes dryer or while ironing. Use a clothes steamer to remove wrinkles and be sure to keep the steamer nozzle at least 12 inches away from the fabric surface. If you must use an iron to remove wrinkles, use a low heat setting and always press from the wrong side while using a pressing cloth between the iron’s surface and the fabric.

Good news is some fashion brands like @funkeadepoju has some of these styles as ready to wear which you can just order for yourselves.

But if you need the fabric to make one of these or a totally different design depending on the look you want. Fabric is available in different colors as seen in the pictures and videos above.

To order online, please call or WhatsApp 2347033040834.

NEW FABRIC ALERT: BROCADE JACQUARD

Hello my stylish asoebi lovers,

Today I will be introducing a new fabric which is actually the rave of the moment in the Nigerian Fashion Scene.

Not yet common but most women of style have one or two patterns of this gorgeous fabric in their closet.

The brocade/jacquard fabric is one of those timeless fabric that will always stand out at any time.
A brocade is merely an example of a jacquard, a heavy fabric with acolorful allover raised pattern or floral design with an embossed or embroidered effect; it may or may not incorporate gold or silver threads.

One thing that made me fall in love with the brocade fabric when I got the first delivery is the floating designs on the surface plus the rich opulent looks👌

This fabric oozes elegance! It’s classy and super stunning yet skin friendly.

It’s perfect for dresses, tops and skirts or top and wrapper but you need a very creative and innovative designer to get the best out of this fabric. This is a timeless fabric, so please invest in getting a great design from a good tailor.

Let’s see some gorgeous designs and colors that we currently have in stock for you to purchase:

Which of these is your favourite design? Let me know in the comments section.

NORTHERN NIGERIAN BRIDES

Sometimes a go I made a post HERE about the Hausa or Northern Nigerian Amariya I shared my thoughts about the beautiful Hausa/Fulani rich culture displayed at their weddings which is quite unique from other traditional weddings in Nigeria.

Over the years, the Amariya or Northern Nigerian brides have evolved in their fashion/style for their big day and I felt I should make another post on this.

In as much as we all know that Hausa especially the Fulani ladies are conservative but we can’t ignore how stunning they look naturally. Have you met some Shuwa Arab ladies?? OMG! They are super gorgeous.

Their smooth and shiny skin either dark or light, their long and soft sometimes curly hair , their love for perfumes and incense ( they love to smell nice)😉 are some of the attributes of the Northern Nigerian ladies.

They spend a lot of money on their hair/skin especially on natural skin care products from Arab countries and some parts of Nigeria ( Maiduguri in particular) where they have local spas that you can treat your skin with natural herbs at low costs.

When getting married, the northern Nigerian wedding is more of a festival especially for the bride.

The display of culture from the outfits to the makeup, henna, exquisite gold jewelry, unique veils is amazingly beautiful.
Since this is our focus on today’s post, grab your popcorn and check out these beautiful pictures of stunning Northern Nigerian brides and let me know what you think in the comments section:

THE TEXTILE FAIR

THE TEXTILE FAIR LAGOS 2018

Hello my lovelies,

The Textile Fair Lagos is back!!!! *Inserts a dance emoji* .

As you all know, THEASOEBIJUNKIE is all about African Fabrics and fashion. And in 2014, we started a fair tagged The Textile Fair Lagos where we gather vendors of high quality Fabrics, creatively designed ready to wear pieces for adults and kids plus unique fashion accessories but stopped along the line.

And because our past vendors keep disturbing that we should bring the fair back, we had to listen and the next edition will be on the 1st of December 2018 at Lagos Airport Hotel Ikeja Lagos.

So if you love great bargains and you have been waiting for our next sales, The Textile Fair Lagos is the place to be this weekend because not only will THEASOEBIJUNKIE brand be there with Exquisite Fabrics as usual but there will be other vendors selling all things Fashion at discounted prices.

It’s going to be an amazing family Christmas shopping event as there will be something for everyone.

Did I mention that there will be free master classes on gele tying, party makeup, fashion styling and I will be teaching on the business of fabrics . So if you want to start a fabric business in 2019 and you need some tips/advice or you have questions on the business of fabrics? You should make it a date.

Another good news is that we have goody bags for the first 50 shoppers and when you purchase goods worth 10k and above from vendors, you get a raffle ticket to win beautiful Fabrics.

So you see we have a lot lined up at The Textile Fair Lagos 2018 with good music and food from our food vendors.

And above all admission to this event is FREE!!

Please make it a date with your family and tell a friend to tell another friend.

In my next post, I will be showcasing brands to look out for at The Textile Fair Lagos but for more updates kindly follow @thetextilefairlagos on Instagram.

Can’t wait to see y’all on Saturday and please if you are a blog reader, kindly stop by our stand and say Hi to me 😃

Cheers,
