ASO-EBI DIVA: EMPRESS EMAMI

Hello everyone,

Today is the last day of the month of September but I will not let the month end without the monthly aso- ebi diva post.

The social media has turned the world into a small village connecting people together to become real -life friends, acquaintances and even couples! Yes lots of people meet on social media, fall in love and end up getting married in real life.

My aso-ebi diva today is a beautiful woman I met on social media! Instagram to be precise, married with two kids and she has amazing flair for African wears.

What attracted me to this woman was her sense of style. It’s so astounding! She dresses so elegantly and makes sure she covers the appropriate parts.

She appears sexy in a non- provocative manner in all her outfits. As you all know aso-ebi diva is about showcasing a Fashionista’s sense of style in African fabrics/native wears which our diva for this month wears a lot  and am going to display lots of beautiful pictures of Empress in different fabrics looking super gorgeous with her fascinating beauty.

One thing to also note about this stylish African woman is her flair for exquisite accessories, she uses beautiful accessories to complement her dressing at all times from gorgeous shoes to beads, gold jewelry, headgear , clutch/purses as well as designer’s sunglasses.

Her choice for exotic and unique fabrics also speaks volume on her fashion taste and love for African attires.

One thing that I will not forget to mention is her make-up, Oh my! I like the way she does her make up to nicely match her skin tone in a subtle manner. Less is indeed more.

Now I present to you our beautiful aso-ebi diva for the month of September, the beautiful and ever- stunning Asba Emami:

ASO-EBI EXTRAVAGANZA

In the month of July I started a series tagged ‘asoebi inspiration’ here where I posted various pictures of party guests in a particular aso-ebi for different parties. In the second edition here, I  also showcased random asoebi pictures of party guests in groups to inspire you in selecting aso-ebi colors and fabrics.

Today’s post is another edition of showcasing amazing color combinations of beautiful fabrics that can help you in making fast decision on the aso-ebi uniform for your event.

But one striking thing about this post is that am changing the series name from ‘asoebi inspiration’ to ‘aso-ebi extravaganza” because i will be displaying pictures of assorted aso-ebi groups of both men and women for you to enjoy, its going to be some sort of aso-ebi  carnival.

So let’s get down to the ASO-EBI EXTRAVAGANZA proper *winks*

GO GUIPURE! GO FIGURE!

Hello my lovelies,

Earlier in the year, I made a trend alert post about the Guipure lace fabric here explaining how ‘hot’ this fabric is at the moment.

The Guipure lace also known as cord lace is still very vibrant on the fashion scene in Nigeria, used by brides as buba or top with aso-oke wrapper for traditional weddings or a complete set of iro and buba for Introduction ceremony.

Wedding guests are also not left out as they use it as aso-ebi, creating beautiful and unique styles ranging from iro and buba to tops as well as dresses. Guipure lace can also be used to make formal outfits/work wears or chic party/ dinner wears.

Recently, I have seen lots of stylish women mix and match the Guipure lace mixed with other fabrics like sequined lace, ankara, brocade even with silk fabric tastefully designed to stand out of the crowd graciously.

The Guipure lace is still the rave of the moment and it’s going to stay long on the Nigerian fashion scene, so if you want to keep up with the trend, go get yourself some yards of Guipure lace and replicate some of these amazing styles for that elegant appearance at your next owambe:

CORALS OF THE NIGER-DELTA BRIDE

One of the most fascinating aspect of the Niger-delta traditional wedding in southern part of Nigeria is the attire of the bride!

I so much love how they use the coral beads to create a very cultural cum traditional appearance of the bride to her groom and wedding guests.

The Niger- delta bride whether from Edo, Delta or Rivers state outfit can never be complete without the beads costume.

There are always of different sizes and shapes ranging from small sized bead to medium to large to extra-large! Yeah, extra-large because some of them look very huge on the neck of the bride but am not sure of the weight if it’s as heavy as it looks (if you are from Niger-Delta kindly explain further in the comments section. Thanks).

Customarily, coral red color is the standard color for the beads even though some use other colors like white, peach e.t.c. it’s only the coral colored beads that actually give the native effect that every bride will want to portray on her traditional wedding day.

The beads can be worn as a top on the wrapper tied on the chest; it basically covers from the shoulder down to the waist in some parts while some other parts use the beads to make a cap and the bride gets to wear this very regal cap and also adorn her neck with the huge size coral bead neck piece! EXQUISITE!

Some also use it to adorn the native hairstyles that are exclusively made for brides on their Big Day to give the Emotan (Benin Queen) look with different sizes of coral beads carefully arranged on their neck as they present them to their groom.

Here are some Niger- Delta brides looking extremely gorgeous, super sexy and absolutely stunning in their coral beads costume displaying the rich Nigerian culture for you to see:

SHINE BRIGHT LIKE DIAMONDS

Hello everyone,

Welcome to September, it’s a very special month for me because it’s my birth month and I also get to celebrate a special event in my life as well.

So in my celebration mood, am going to make more of fun- like posts this month because am happy. lol

Today, am going to focus on an amazing fabric for celebrants and wedding guests: THE SEQUINED LACE FABRIC.

This fabric is a type of lace fabric that is adorned with sequence all over or sometimes at the edges. Ranging from guipure to tulle, voile, etc, the sequined lace gives you that dazzling effect that makes you stand out in all occasions especially at night/ dinner parties.

This fabric can be used to make second outfit for brides, birthday dress, dinner gowns, prom dresses and even iro and buba.

When you want to purchase sequined fabrics be very careful and try as much as possible to buy quality over quantity because when you buy the cheap fabrics, the sequence tends to pull off the lace as you wash them and can also get scrawled.

Also note that the sequined fabrics are better to be washed inside out with your washing machine and ironing should be done inside out as well.

DO NOT PLACE HOT IRON ON A SEQUINED FABRIC, unless you want to melt all the sequence away.

In my usual manner, i present to you these stylish women in different attires made from the sequined lace fabric:

O sparkles! (In Jenifa’s voice)

If you have an event coming up soon either as a guest or celebrant and you want to make a statement with your style, then the sequined lace fabric is the way to go.

So go ahead, dazzle them as you shine bright like diamonds.

Cheers,

Modupe
