THEASOEBIJUNKIE FABRICS

NEW FABRIC ALERT: BROCADE JACQUARD

Hello my stylish asoebi lovers,

Today I will be introducing a new fabric which is actually the rave of the moment in the Nigerian Fashion Scene.

Not yet common but most women of style have one or two patterns of this gorgeous fabric in their closet.

The brocade/jacquard fabric is one of those timeless fabric that will always stand out at any time.
A brocade is merely an example of a jacquard, a heavy fabric with acolorful allover raised pattern or floral design with an embossed or embroidered effect; it may or may not incorporate gold or silver threads.

One thing that made me fall in love with the brocade fabric when I got the first delivery is the floating designs on the surface plus the rich opulent looks👌

This fabric oozes elegance! It’s classy and super stunning yet skin friendly.

It’s perfect for dresses, tops and skirts or top and wrapper but you need a very creative and innovative designer to get the best out of this fabric. This is a timeless fabric, so please invest in getting a great design from a good tailor.

Let’s see some gorgeous designs and colors that we currently have in stock for you to purchase:

THEASO-EBI JUNKIE WEDDING, WEEKEND SPOTLIGHT

THEASOEBIJUNKIE WEEKEND SPOTLIGHT #thebashunion

Hello everyone,

Hope you are enjoying the long holiday if you are in Nigeria and Barka da Sallah to our Muslim community.

Today I’m bringing back your favourite series on this blog #theweekendspoltlight

This is actually the first one this year 🙈 ( check the last one HERE ) but over the weekend, a particular traditional wedding broke our timeline on different social media platforms with the hashtag #thebashunion and this triggered the need to bring back this series.

It was such a beautiful and colorful event with top celebrities and society ladies in attendance.

One striking thing about this wedding is that they didn’t choose any fabric as asoebi but they only made a uniform asooke for their party guests as asooke asoebi and it was beautiful.

Like I normally say here even though I’m a fabric vendor, when you want to choose asoebi always consider your guests. If a uniform gele be it #segogele or asooke will be perfect and affordable then it’s okay. You don’t have to use or sell fabrics as asoebi.

In this case , their party guests are high class ladies so money is not even a factor and most of these wealthy folks even give out asoebi for FREE. But it could be due to time frame because manufacturing and shipping fabrics in large quantity takes like a month to 6weeks that’s for air freight but asooke is made locally and it will be faster to get and distribute.

So choose whatever works for you and make it easy for your guests . You can choose affordable fabrics of great quality as asoebi or you can choose quality asooke gele or Sego gele for your asoebi or just pick a color code. Remember the most important thing is to have your guests honour you with their presence at your party.

Now let’s see the beautiful party guests we spotted at #thebashunion last weekend in their lemon green or Chartreuse color asooke gele asoebi:

First of the gorgeous couple ( Dara and Tosin) in all white looking super stunning

Then in their asooke traditional outfit ( Did you notice they are wearing different but complementary colors)

Now to the party guests in fabulous fabrics with the asooke :

Then some other party guests in different gorgeous designs without the asoebi gele but still caught our attention as they are spectacular in different colors also:

What do you think about #thebashunion traditional wedding? Share your thoughts in the comments section and will you use only asooke gele as asoebi for your party? Let me know why.

Cheers,

NORTHERN NIGERIAN BRIDES

Sometimes a go I made a post HERE about the Hausa or Northern Nigerian Amariya I shared my thoughts about the beautiful Hausa/Fulani rich culture displayed at their weddings which is quite unique from other traditional weddings in Nigeria.

Over the years, the Amariya or Northern Nigerian brides have evolved in their fashion/style for their big day and I felt I should make another post on this.

In as much as we all know that Hausa especially the Fulani ladies are conservative but we can’t ignore how stunning they look naturally. Have you met some Shuwa Arab ladies?? OMG! They are super gorgeous.

Their smooth and shiny skin either dark or light, their long and soft sometimes curly hair , their love for perfumes and incense ( they love to smell nice)😉 are some of the attributes of the Northern Nigerian ladies.

They spend a lot of money on their hair/skin especially on natural skin care products from Arab countries and some parts of Nigeria ( Maiduguri in particular) where they have local spas that you can treat your skin with natural herbs at low costs.

When getting married, the northern Nigerian wedding is more of a festival especially for the bride.

The display of culture from the outfits to the makeup, henna, exquisite gold jewelry, unique veils is amazingly beautiful.
Since this is our focus on today’s post, grab your popcorn and check out these beautiful pictures of stunning Northern Nigerian brides and let me know what you think in the comments section:

2019 WEDDING COLOR: EMERALD GREEN

Every year in African fashion, a particular color tend to dominate the scene. Even though Pantone releases the color of the year, when it comes to fashion in Nigeria colors of the year tend to take a different turn because we are a whole VIBE as a people and just one color will not be enough for us because we love to explore and “play” with colors a lot.

So some colors (not just one) rule our African fashion scene every year. As a fabric vendor, I deal with lots of customers making orders for retail/individual and asoebi/bulk orders . And I can categorically tell you that this year 2019, Emerald green have been of high demand by party guests, asoebi orders, bridal outfits as well as for individual use.

The color emerald green is quite dark but this color still pops on #brownskin girls and also on #myfairladies.

It’s perfect for both male and female as it exudes class, strength and power.

It’s so gorgeous that you don’t have to combine it with any other color to slay in it (emerald monotone combination is gorgeous) but if you will like to add some colors, you can combine it with red, gold, white, yellow, silver, blue and black.

Below are some gorgeous ladies slaying effortlessly in Emerald green:

What color will you match emerald with? Share your thoughts in the comments please.

BOUBOU STYLES

Hello everyone,

Hope y’all doing well? I promised to be consistent but I haven’t kept to my promise in my last post HERE

But as they say it’s better late than never 😉

Eid holidays will soon be here and you get to see loads of rams up for sale around Lagos at this time which is a reminder that Eid- Kabir is around the corner.

Fashion wise, it’s a time where the whole family source for fabrics perfect for Eid.

One of the most comfortable outfits yet elegant styles for women at this time is the BOUBOU style. It’s easy to make and very comfortable to wear as you can move around, serve food, attend to visitors during the festive season.

The last time I had a party and I was confused on what to make with my asoebi because I didn’t have enough time to get it to a tailor on time infact I had less than 24hrs and I just didn’t want to make iro and buba, I just asked someone to make my fabric into a BOUBOU and I got it ready in less than 1hr. I just matched it a turban, long earrings, bracelet and wristwatch and I was so happy unfortunately I didn’t get to take pictures which would have been perfect for this post.

But here, I have some beautiful BOUBOU style options for you to choose from incase you are opting for the comfortable yet elegant look:

Guipure laces are one of the best fabrics for boubou styles but the truth is I have seen amazing boubou styles made from tulle laces, adire fabrics, brocade fabrics and even Ankara fabrics. So it all depends on your budget. You can use guipure lace, cord lace, milk fibre lace (like I showed you in my last post HERE), silk fabric, chiffon fabric etc

On choosing colors for boubou, I personally love the classic white for boubous. White colour is versatile as you can match it with any color of turban or asooke and it’s so easy to accessorize.

Also depending on your body size, you can opt for a colorful fabric, prints or plain. I love to use plain fabric even though in my last birthday photo shoot HERE I wore a multicoloured guipure lace boubou which was so beautiful but because my fashion language is subtle yet stunning I still prefer plain fabrics for boubou.

Let see more pictures:

What’s your take on boubou styles? Let me know in the comments section.

Also note we have loads of fabrics (plain and patterned) perfect for boubou styles.

And we can easily help you make one and ship to you anywhere in the world.
