THEASO-EBI JUNKIE WEDDING, WEEKEND SPOTLIGHT

THEASOEBIJUNKIE WEEKEND SPOTLIGHT #thebashunion

Hello everyone,

Hope you are enjoying the long holiday if you are in Nigeria and Barka da Sallah to our Muslim community.

Today I’m bringing back your favourite series on this blog #theweekendspoltlight

This is actually the first one this year ūüôą ( check the last one HERE ) but over the weekend, a particular traditional wedding broke our timeline on different social media platforms with the hashtag #thebashunion and this triggered the need to bring back this series.

It was such a beautiful and colorful event with top celebrities and society ladies in attendance.

One striking thing about this wedding is that they didn’t choose any fabric as asoebi but they only made a uniform asooke for their party guests as asooke asoebi and it was beautiful.

Like I normally say here even though I’m a fabric vendor, when you want to choose asoebi always consider your guests. If a uniform gele be it #segogele or asooke will be perfect and affordable then it’s okay. You don’t have to use or sell fabrics as asoebi.

In this case , their party guests are high class ladies so money is not even a factor and most of these wealthy folks even give out asoebi for FREE. But it could be due to time frame because manufacturing and shipping fabrics in large quantity takes like a month to 6weeks that’s for air freight but asooke is made locally and it will be faster to get and distribute.

So choose whatever works for you and make it easy for your guests . You can choose affordable fabrics of great quality as asoebi or you can choose quality asooke gele or Sego gele for your asoebi or just pick a color code. Remember the most important thing is to have your guests honour you with their presence at your party.

Now let’s see the beautiful party guests we spotted at #thebashunion last weekend in their lemon green or Chartreuse color asooke gele asoebi:

First of the gorgeous couple ( Dara and Tosin) in all white looking super stunning

Then in their asooke traditional outfit ( Did you notice they are wearing different but complementary colors)

Now to the party guests in fabulous fabrics with the asooke :

Then some other party guests in different gorgeous designs without the asoebi gele but still caught our attention as they are spectacular in different colors also:

What do you think about #thebashunion traditional wedding? Share your thoughts in the comments section and will you use only asooke gele as asoebi for your party? Let me know why.

Cheers,

Modupe

LOVE LOOKS LIKE US

LOVE LOOKS LIKE US

TGIF! The weekend is here and lots of weddings will take place tomorrow. Massive congratulations to my Bride Mayowa, may your home be filled with joy and everlasting peace. Can’t wait to see pictures of guests in her champagne gold and coral Asoebi. Also to Oyin who was also a vendor at the last Textile Fair Lagos, may you and your husband experience joy unspeakable as you come together as one. Its painful that I will not be able to attend these weddings but I know its a success already by Gods grace.

Any time I get to make a post on the ‘Love looks like us’ series, I get pretty excited . Not just because it showcases beautiful couples on their traditional wedding day but I also love the display of affection between the love birds .
This series helps couple to choose fabrics and colors that compliments each other for their traditional wedding outfits.
Let’s see some gorgeous couples celebrating their love in lovely native attires:

ADIRE

Hello everyone, my post today will be based on the Adire fabric.

Most times when we are out to pick asoebi, all kinds of fabrics come to our mind;Lace fabrics, Ankara fabrics, Velvet , Silk, Chiffon and probably Brocade for men,but there are lots of beautiful fabrics in the market that we need to explore, one of which is ADIRE!

Yes Adire , same old Adire ( you read right) although a lot of people see this fabric as ol’ skool it’s actually super cool. I have seen few people use it as ipele and gele at weddings and it was really nice on them

Adire is purely an African fabric and its a beautiful one especially when designed to suit the occasion its been used for. Adire actually means tie and dye, it is a resist dye (most times cotton)fabric traditionally with indigo in order to create patterns and designs by treating certain parts of the fabric in a way to prevent them from absorbing dye. it’s mostly used by the Yoruba.

There are different types of Adire:

RAFFIA RESIST – ADIRE ONIKO
STITCH RESIST – ADIRE ALABERE STARCH RESIST – ADIRE ELEKO

I remember making my first Adire by myself in JSS 2 or JSS 3 at Holy Child College (up school) as a fine art student. We also made another one in clothing and textile class , I used Teru material think English name is Calico about a yard or two and it came out really nice.

Adire is available at most markets in Lagos but Abeokuta(Ogun State) is the haven of Adire, there they can make special designs for you in large quantity for aso-ebi and there are some beautiful ones from Mali that you can also get in the market. So , if you really want a unique fabric for your next owambe, you can choose Adire or Kampala as some others call it.

Its affordable, colorful, beautiful and would make your guest really  stand out.

Here are some beautiful Adire samples and beautiful people rocking this amazing fabric:

ASO-EBI DIVA

ASO EBI DIVA- BUNMI

Hello people, today am launching a new series tagged “Aso- ebi diva’’

Aso ‚Äďebi diva is going to be a monthly post, where I would feature a particular person (Fashionista) and show pictures of the person in different Aso-ebi materials and styles.

Aso-ebi diva series aims to inspire your dressing/combination as an individual or group for your next owambe. It would also help to determine colors and type of materials to look out for as well as trends that you can infuse your own style into to look drop-dead gorgeous!

Our first Aso-ebi diva for the month of October 2013 is a super sexy lady: Bunmi Ashiyanbi Adeeko.

Bunmi was my classmate at Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo in 1996

Even though we were not close friends in school, there is no-one in that class (ND-Accountancy) that would not notice this diva.

She is sexy, beautiful, and gorgeous with a drop dead figure(you know the kind of figure that reminds you¬†of the song ”she carry front, she carry back, she too package……..”) wink.

Even at that time Bunmi has a very high fashion taste and always makes a grand entrance into class at all times

After a while, she left Laspotech for Ogun State University (OSU) while I moved to Unilag and did not get to see this beauty queen again until one day when I stumbled on her name/page on Face book.

I looked at her pictures and I was not surprised to see her all grown into a super sexy lady, married with lovely kids (twins inclusive; I had to mention twins because I so love twins)

Now let’s see all I have been talking about

*druuuuuum rolling*

I hereby present to you the adorable, beautiful, ebony skinned, super sexy bunmi ashiyanbi adeeko

Watch out for our November Aso-¬†ebi diva……………

NOTE: Please if you would like to feature here as our Aso-ebi diva or you want to refer anyone to us kindly send a message to theasoebijunkie@gmail.com or send us a facebook message.
