Theasoebijunkie wedding: Mayowa and Ayorinde

Hello everyone,

Am so excited to bring to you pictures of one of the brides I mentioned in this POST

My Ebony beauty Mayowa Alaka and her boo- Ayorinde  Oyekangaun tied the knot on the 22nd of August 2015 to the glory of God and even though I wasn’t present at the wedding, I knew it was going to be Glorious and thank God it was a success.
Mayowa contacted me sometimes in June for Asoebi and her color theme was coral and champagne gold. She told me her budget and sent me picture of her choice fabrics which was silk and tulle with Sego Headtie.

The fabric was champagne gold while the head tie was coral and we arranged/packed her fabrics and sent in batches as the request was coming in from her friends and well wishers .

Here are some of the pictures from the beautiful wedding:

I really wished I had more pictures to show 😫😫! If only I was there in person but I had to travel out of town that weekend.

Once again, a big congratulations to the couple – Mr and Mrs Oyekangun and I pray that their home will be blessed with all the good things of life and may their love continue to blossom forever.

Thank you for allowing theasoebijunkie brand to be part of your day.

Silk and Chiffon

Happy Sunday Y’all,

So our giveaway sponsor Green Castle Dubai sent me some fabrics for a photo shoot and we made some beautiful iro and buba styles as well as dresses from the beautiful chiffon and silk mix/match fabrics.

When deciding styles to make from this fabrics, my being covered yet chic and classy mantra came to play because nudity is gradually taken over the fashion scene nowadays.
And as Africans, we love to look elegant and sophisticated but we also try to cover the appropriate parts of our body as females. Personally, I do not believe I have to expose parts of my body to feel/look sexy and as a fashion cum fabric blogger, I try to celebrate women who do not show their private parts but look absolutely stunning in well tailored African outfits.
I see my body as my treasure so will not expose it unnecessarily just like I will not expose my box of gold jewelry because I place so much value on it.

So in this photoshoot, I made some iro and buba  outfits with different kinds of sleeves with plain sego gele as my headtie .
My Tailor also made some maxi dresses from the fabrics to show us that chiffon and silk is not just for iro and buba but you can make dresses, shift dresses, maxi- dresses, tunic tops etc from them.
Let’s see some of the pictures:

GTBank Lagos Fashion & Design Week 2014 started on the 29th of October and will be on till the 1st of November 2014.

I am not in Lagos currently, so I couldn’t make it to the event but I have been following all the details and happenings at the event online since Day One.

So I was checking out the pictures of designers on the runway on Day Two and one Designer’s pieces caught my attention- DZYN!

I have been following her (Ogwa) brand on Instagram and I put up her designs on my page but she totally blew me up with her designs at LFDW!

From her choice of fabrics, to color selection, the way she mixed those fabrics together to the way they fit like gloves on each model’s body!

I was like OMG!  She killed it!

Her designs are my best designs so far, you could see display of creativity, originality and you can feel that she has the African woman in mind while creating them.

She used different fabric for each and also mixed the fabrics together to make some.

Fabrics include: Raw silk, Jersey, Satin, lace, tulle.

Then the colors:  Peach, Beige, Orange, Blue and gold (Classic)

I also love the trimmings, stones, unique patches! Everything on-point!

You need to see these for yourselves below:

My Favourite

And Now the Brain behind the designs, Ogwa herself:

Thumbs up Ogwa! More grace!

What do you like about her designs and which is your favorite?

Let me know in the comments box

Do have a great weekend ahead!

I lived in the North, Kano precisely for about seven years but unfortunately did not attend a single Hausa wedding throughout my stay *covers face*.   May be because most of their weddings are somewhat intimate and only the relatives (note that they have a large and closely knitted family system which I admire a lot) and close friends get to attend most of their weddings.

The Northern traditional wedding is similar to the Arab’s wedding but with our African culture infused in the ceremony, you wonder how I got to know this since I didn’t attend any? Well I get fascinated by pictures of Hausa weddings in featured in magazines and also online.

So am dedicating my post today to the northern Amariyas (Amariya means new bride), the bride is always the cynosure of all eyes at every wedding and the Northern weddings are not an exception, in fact their brides are super magnificent!

From the wedding dress which is always slaying and stunning to the display of gold accessories, diamonds, and nowadays beaded jewelry.

Another important part of the Northern bride appearance is the henna tattoo. Henna tattoos are non-permanent dying or staining on the top layer of skin using a henna paste product. This used to beautify the hands and feet of the bride to make her appear absolutely gorgeous on her big day.

645560495100917943_204705253 751457125678708848_204705253

Most of the times, the Amariyas are always well covered on their wedding day, their head is properly wrapped with a turban or sometimes the gele head-tie and then a veil is placed over the gele/turban. They look absolutely stunning!

Apart from the henna tattoo on their hands and feet, their faces are also well made up with subtle make up, nothing loud but absolutely flawless even though they are blessed with good skin naturally especially the Fulanis.

In my usual manner am going to display lots of pictures of beautiful Amariyas in drop dead gorgeous bridal outfist made from lace fabrics, ruffles, plain tulle fabrics, satin and silk in various colors  for you to attest to the magnificence of the Northern bride.

Amariya Kenan!

Once again, am proud to be a Nigerian.
We have lots of beautiful cultures and traditions and our weddings irrespective of the tribe are always phenomenal.
Watch out for more traditional wedding pictures of other tribes in Nigeria and across Africa in future posts.
