LASER CUT FABRICS

Hello everyone,

Today I want to introduce another amazing and very versatile fabric that is fast taking over the fashion scene and lots of ladies are making drop dead gorgeous outfits from it- LASER CUT LACE.

Laser cut lace fabric is intricate, elegant and has a classic pattern that makes you stand out in any outfit.

Laser cutting used to be reserved for haute couture designs. But as consumers began lusting for the technique, and the technology was made more readily available to manufacturers, it’s become commonplace to see laser-cut silk and soft leather to make gorgeous lace designs.

There are different types of laser cut designs as shown below :

Laser cut embellished with pearls and stones

Cream plain laser cut lace

plain laser cut lace

Pink plain laser cut lace

Black plain laser cut lace

Cream laser cut lace embellished with pearls and stones

Lilac laser cut lace embellished with pearls and stones

Yellow laser cut lace embellished with pearls and stones

Red laser cut lace embellished with pearls

Cream 3D laser cut lace

Peach 3D laser cut lace

This amazing fabric can be styled into blouse and wrapper, iro and bubble as well as dresses but please get a good tailor or fashion designer to make exquisite designs that will make you slay stylishly.

My Owanbe Weekend

Hello my beautiful readers,

Over the weekend, my friend from way back invited me to a wedding party at classique events place Oregun and I was excited about it because my social life has been a bit dull as I’m always busy with business and family. But this is one friend I can’t say no to and I really enjoyed myself which is why I took some pictures for a post because most of the time I share with you style post of customers and stylish women that catch my fancy in order to inspire our African/traditional fashion  sense as well as different unique fabrics in stock for sale. And you don’t really get to see the face behind the brand so I think this is an opportunity to show my face.

Enjoy the beautiful pictures of myself and my friends at my Owanbe :

Hey lovelies,

Its still February and we are still celebrating Love, which is why we are bringing back one of our old but inspiring series tagged ‘Love looks like us’  where we showcase beautiful couples in outstanding traditional wedding outfits from different parts of Nigeria and across Africa to help intending couples make decisions on  how their outfits will compliment each other .

Also it will help in coordination of colors, fabrics and style in order to become the cynosure of all eyes on their own big day.

My best part is the display/expression of love between the couple in pictures, you can literarily feel the emotions ,bond and above all the fire of love burning!

Let’s see some love birds in their lovely outfits :

3D TULLE LACE FABRICS

3D fabrics also known as Three dimensional woven fabrics are fabrics that could be formed to near net shape with considerable thicknes.

Three-dimensional Composites utilize fiber preforms constructed from yarns or tows arranged into complex three-dimensional structures. These can be created from a 3D weaving process, a 3D braiding process, or a 3D lay of short fibers. A resin is applied to the 3D preform to create the composite material.

These unique fabrics are light weighed, beautiful and exquisite . They are most suitable for bride’s reception dresses, birthday outfits, baby dedication outfits or any event where you want to be the centre of attraction.

Here are some samples of 3D tulle laces that you can order from us in order to #pepperdem at your next occasion:

How to choose a tailor

Hello beautiful people,

Today’s post is on a very controversial topic and a question I get regularly as a fabric vendor from clients. Getting a good tailor or fashion designer seems like hardwork especially in Lagos and when you get a good tailor,so many times they are not so affordable especially at this time in Nigeria.

And I get so skeptical referring my clients to tailors especially clients that are not within lagos because you just cant be too sure…..

So personally, I put some factors in consideration before I choose my tailors ( yes I have  more than One) which I will like to share with you our awesome readers and followers:

1. Type/cost of fabric : For some reasons, I have different tailors for differnt kind of fabrics.

For instance if I want to sew ankara fabric or a silk fabric that costs less than 5000 Naira, I will take it to low budget tailors around me but one thing I will always check is the finishing of clothes he/ she has sewn before. I will not pay so much for a cheap or low quality fabric but I will ensure I get a neat job. You will be surprised at how good some ‘local’ tailors are when it comes to sewing. But if the fabric in question is expensive , I will not take the risk of giving it to just anyone.

2. Intending style: Another factor I consider is the style I want to make.

Most times if I see a nice design on a person or on someone’s ( with my kind of body structure) social media page , I could approach the person and ask for details of the tailor that made it and patronise such tailors instead of disturbing my head trying to get a new tailor to replicate the design. But if I need to make a simple boubou or regular iro and buba, any regular tailor can make that and I always give them one of my best buba as sample so as to avoid mistakes

3. Creativity: I also check how creative some tailors are by asking them to sketch a design that will suit my body type. If the tailor can sketch something nice right in presence , I can trust him/her to make nice outfits.

4. Time frame: Another major problems with tailors is their ability to deliver on time. So I have learnt to always give them ample time by sending my fabric to them on time.

When you know your tailor is good at what he/she does which also means he/she will always be busy, you need to send fabrics like 2weeks before use.

Another tip is to update your native wear wardrobe with basic colors from time to time (check my post on native wardrobe staples HERE), so you always have something to wear when there’s an ’emergency’ party or event.

5. Test run:This is another tip I use when I see nice designs displayed by a tailor online or offline, I will first of all do a test run by giving him/her a cheap fabric to ‘test ‘ his/her handiwork .The  outcome of the ‘test’ will determine my final decision.

Do you have any tip you will like to share on this topic or will you like to share your experience with different tailors? Please share in the comments section

Do have a great week ahead.
