2021 ASOEBI DESIGNS WITH DRAMATIC SLEEVES

Hi everyone,

As we all know, fashion they say keep evolving and despite the pandemic the creative juice of fashion designers keep flowing especially our Nigerian fashion designers who are constantly stepping up their game in terms of creating unique asoebi styles for party guests .

One thing I have noticed recently is that fashion designers now put extra efforts on or should I say “play” more with the sleeves of their recent designs to give their clients jaw dropping outfits

They sew a basic fitted dress for asoebi and then create some drama on the sleeves which immediately switch the dress from zero to 100%.

We must also note that these dramatic sleeves design {in my opinion} is not for every BODY FRAME, because some can be overpowering and appear overwhelming on some body shapes which at the end of day make you look like a drag queen.

For instance, someone with a petite stature might appear smaller if the sleeves on her outfit are too bogus while another person with a bigger body frame will make heads turn in the same dress.

In view of this, I will advise that before you try out these beautiful designs with dramatic sleeves make sure you seek your designer’s opinion.

And in case you want to replicate any of the asoebi designs I will be showing you in this post, make sure it is perfect for your body frame.

Now, let’s take a look at pictures of some beautiful asoebi designs with perfect dramatic sleeves:

Which of these designs do you think will be perfect for your body frame? or which would you like to replicate with your next asoebi fabric?

Let me know in the comments section.

ASO-EBI EXTRAVAGANZA

In the month of July I started a series tagged ‘asoebi inspiration’ here where I posted various pictures of party guests in a particular aso-ebi for different parties. Today’s post is another edition of showcasing amazing color combinations of beautiful fabrics that can help you in making fast decision on the aso-ebi uniform for your event.

But one striking thing about this post is that am changing the series name from ‘asoebi inspiration’ to ‘aso-ebi extravaganza” because i will be displaying pictures of assorted aso-ebi groups of both men and women for you to enjoy, its going to be some sort of aso-ebi  carnival.

So let’s get down to the ASO-EBI EXTRAVAGANZA proper *winks*

THEASOEBIJUNKIE FABRICS

SHINE BRIGHT LIKE DIAMONDS

Hello everyone,

Welcome to September, it’s a very special month for me because it’s my birth month and I also get to celebrate a special event in my life as well.

So in my celebration mood, am going to make more of fun- like posts this month because am happy. lol

Today, am going to focus on an amazing fabric for celebrants and wedding guests: THE SEQUINED LACE FABRIC.

This fabric is a type of lace fabric that is adorned with sequence all over or sometimes at the edges. Ranging from guipure to tulle, voile, etc, the sequined lace gives you that dazzling effect that makes you stand out in all occasions especially at night/ dinner parties.

This fabric can be used to make second outfit for brides, birthday dress, dinner gowns, prom dresses and even iro and buba.

When you want to purchase sequined fabrics be very careful and try as much as possible to buy quality over quantity because when you buy the cheap fabrics, the sequence tends to pull off the lace as you wash them and can also get scrawled.

Also note that the sequined fabrics are better to be washed inside out with your washing machine and ironing should be done inside out as well.

DO NOT PLACE HOT IRON ON A SEQUINED FABRIC, unless you want to melt all the sequence away.

In my usual manner, i present to you these stylish women in different attires made from the sequined lace fabric:

O sparkles! (In Jenifa’s voice)

If you have an event coming up soon either as a guest or celebrant and you want to make a statement with your style, then the sequined lace fabric is the way to go.

So go ahead, dazzle them as you shine bright like diamonds.

TREND ALERT

IRO AND BUBA RE-DEFINED

Hello lovelies,

Today’s post is based on a renowned style that is mostly worn in the western part of Nigeria by females especially when you are of marriageable age or planning to get married and also a staple wear  in your wardrobe as a married woman.

In Yoruba land, having a box full of various fabrics used to sew the iro and buba style is a must on the list of things required from the groom by the bride’s family at the traditional marriage.

In fact, in the olden days the box is opened during the traditional wedding ceremony and checked properly to ensure that the groom bought enough clothes for his bride.

Iro and buba is a style that gives you that “madam look” and makes you command respect among men and women in your community.

The iro is just a wrapper that you wrap round your waist; most people use 2yards of the fabric or 21/2 yards if your hips don’t lie. While the buba is the top which is normally round neck with free sleeves and never fitted by the side it could be referred to as a free size top.

But recently, as the fashion industry in Nigeria is improving and different styles are evolving day by day, the Buba top is also not left out and has also been re-invented  to give today’s women a more sophisticated look in the traditional way.

The buba has moved from being a simple free size round neck top to a more stylish top to make Nigerian women look super sexy!  Sewn to fit by the sides with various neck designs like the high neck buba, cowl neck buba, cape buba, lace-edge neck buba, Mono-chrome neck buba, off -shoulder buba etc.

The list of fabrics you can use to sew iro and buba is endless; from all sorts of lace fabric, to chiffon, Ankara, silk, georgette, brocade, cotton fabric, adire etc.

Here are pictures of women in iro and buba style with different designs of the buba top looking super stunning:

1-717548755792951374_1319996021

So you see, the  iro and buba style is no longer for just bride to be or married woman but for every stylish African woman and fashionistas. Even the kids are not left out because most cuties wear iro and buba on their first birthday anniversary to relate with their African roots.

Another advantage of the iro and buba style is that it can be easily sown by most tailors/ designers within a short duration . So if you need a quick fix  just get to your tailor and ask him/ her to make iro and buba for you.

Cheers,

Modupe

MALE ASOEBI 2

Hello People,
Happy new week and i wish us all more of God’s blessing in this new week
I saw the pictures of Jude okoye’s wedding on Bella Naija and I was attracted to the guys’ aso-ebi in the post.
Remember I made a post last year on the aso-ebi of the guys at Peter and Lola Okoye’s wedding here.
The color theme for the male aso-ebi was white and blue.
The fabric is cotton fabric also known as Atiku material (white) adorned with a cobalt blue cap and a cobalt blue muffler on their necks which made all the guys look so on point.

See them showing so much swag in the following pictures:
