As we all know, fashion they say keep evolving and despite the pandemic the creative juice of fashion designers keep flowing especially our Nigerian fashion designers who are constantly stepping up their game in terms of creating unique asoebi styles for party guests .
One thing I have noticed recently is that fashion designers now put extra efforts on or should I say “play” more with the sleeves of their recent designs to give their clients jaw dropping outfits
They sew a basic fitted dress for asoebi and then create some drama on the sleeves which immediately switch the dress from zero to 100%.
We must also note that these dramatic sleeves design {in my opinion} is not for every BODY FRAME, because some can be overpowering and appear overwhelming on some body shapes which at the end of day make you look like a drag queen.
For instance, someone with a petite stature might appear smaller if the sleeves on her outfit are too bogus while another person with a bigger body frame will make heads turn in the same dress.
In view of this, I will advise that before you try out these beautiful designs with dramatic sleeves make sure you seek your designer’s opinion.
And in case you want to replicate any of the asoebi designs I will be showing you in this post, make sure it is perfect for your body frame.
Now, let’s take a look at pictures of some beautiful asoebi designs with perfect dramatic sleeves:
Which of these designs do you think will be perfect for your body frame? or which would you like to replicate with your next asoebi fabric?

Hello and how has your week been? Hope you are having a blast?
This post should have been tagged Sunday’s best because I actually wore this outfit to church on Sunday. Tying two wrapper has been a culture of the Niger Delta women but recently they added a twist to it; i.e the young women who cannot stand tying wrappers had to start sewing skirts under and ‘manage’ to tie just one wrapper on top and looks real good if not better.
I see them using all manner of fabrics for these; ranging from Ankara to Lace material, Indian fabrics and the evergreen George fabric.
They make beautiful blouses, tie different styles of gele/head-tie and most importantly holding their white handkerchiefs and chanting ‘Iye’ during praise and thanksgiving in church.
So I bought this six yards material (seriously don’t know the name but it’s not a George material) because the fabric is more of cotton used it to sew a six pieces skirt, a wrapper and also made a head-tie. Some cloth management there!
Don’t really like tying wrappers (even our own iro and buba na by force) but I love the skirt and wrapper combo and am in the south now so I just had to go with the flow:
The simple blouse
Here is the six pieces skirt
skirt and blouse only( no head-tie , no wrapper)

Now with the head-tie and i tried knotting the wrapper on top of the skirt

Wrapper on top of skirt (regular tying)
I left my White handkerchief out (covers face), but will still sing ‘ayiba preye preye preye’
The month of November is drawing close to its end and of course we will definitely not miss our monthly Aso-ebi diva series.
Today our Aso-ebi diva is a fabulous woman; Biodun Adebutu Dosunmu.
Biodun was my classmate at the University of Lagos and all through the time we were in class together all I can say about this diva is that she is intelligent, beautiful, kind-hearted, fabulous and a very smart lady.
I would also like to add that Biodun is a fashion designer and she had a fashion outfit somewhere in Surulere, Lagos when she was in Nigeria and she actually made a dress for me at that time that was well-tailored and really nice.
Abi( short form of Abiodun) has a great fashion sense and looks very trendy in our African fabrics, so I just had to feature her as an Aso-ebi diva here for you all.
Even though Biodun is now married and a mum to 4 boys, she still looks super sexy with a gorgeous body.
One thing that makes this diva stand out is that she knows how to combine colours as well as accessories to match her skin color very well.
So please join me *clapping* as I present to you our Aso-ebi diva for the month of November 2013; the beautiful, elegant, stylish and trendy Abioun Adebutu-Dosunmu
So that’s our African Queen as well as Aso- Ebi diva and junkie for the month of November.
*taking a bow*
You can share your thoughts about her style in our comments box.
Please watch out for our next diva for the month of December as we prepare for the yuletide season. Also if you would like to feature as our Aso-ebi diva or you know someone you want us to feature kindly contact us :theasoebijunkie@gmail.com or send us a Facebook message.
P.S: A very big thank you to Biodun for allowing us to feature her and we encourage her to keep being stylish and elegant.
