2021 Family Photo Shoots

Hello everyone,

Family Photo Shoots has been in existence for a long time, most of our parents homes are filled with beautiful family pictures which we grow up to cherish even when they are no longer here.

Our generation is also keeping the tradition of taking beautiful family portraits in our traditional outfits using exquisite and gorgeous fabrics like laces, asooke, ankara, Atiku cotton fabrics to represent different cultures.

Most families organize family photo shoots to mark special events in the family. Like wedding anniversaries, birthdays of a member of the family, for Christmas, new year or Thanksgiving Celebrations. These family pictures helps to keep memories of the different milestones marked within the family.

I saw some family photos that caught my attention not just because of the color theme but because of the kind of fabrics and also the styles made out of them. Are you planning a family photo shoot and you have no idea on how to go about it? Then take a look at these pictures and draw inspiration from them as you plan a memorable photoshoot for your beautiful family:

MEN IN NATIVE

MEN IN NATIVE

Hi everyone,

This post is to showcase the African men in different fabrics, colors and style to inspire other male folks that will like to step out stylishly on Fridays to work or on Sundays to church services or to the next owambe they intend to attend.

Men also have variety of fabrics to choose from like brocade, cotton fabrics, wool, atiku material, polished lace etc.

Most African men tend to choose calm and neutral colors they do not like to play with bright colors like the ladies. Examples of colors that men tend to use to sew native wears include: white, cream, beige, grey, black, off-white, navy-blue, sky-blue etc

The men folk also accessorize with mufflers, different types of caps/hats, sunglasses, wristbands, exquisite rings, coralbeads etc.

Below are some handsome African dudes with so much Finesse looking very fresh, eye-catching and smart as they display the Nigerian/African culture in different fabrics:

Cotton Fabrics (Atiku) for men

Hello people,

Even though we cater for male fabric needs on request,  we haven’t really devoted any post to sales of male fabrics and that’s about to change as today’s post is dedicated to our male readers who have been making inquires on  Atiku fabrics.

If you are non-nigerian,  you might be wondering what Atiku is ? Well,  Atiku fabric is a pure cotton fabric that is not as thick or heavy as brocade.

This fabric is commonly used by men from the Northern part of Nigeria and our former  Vice president- Alhaji Atiku Abubakar  who is a northerner, rocked this fabric in different colors during his tenure in the most stylish way that made most men in Nigeria want to replicate his style and So the fabric was named after the former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The cotton fabric is either plain, stripped or patterned. Its mostly 100% cotton,  easy-breezy and soft on the skin. Mostly dyed in subtle colors but every guy should at least have a white Atiku fabric in their closet. It’s a classic wear!

They come in different grades depending on your budget. Today I will be showing us a ‘medium’ grade quality which is a good one that we have available for sale at the moment. There are ‘higher’ grades like the HKG, Filtex etc but these are budget friendly ones that are pure cotton and of great quality (pictures not doing justice) :

Father’s Day Style Post

I have received lots of messages from guys/men that we don’t put up style posts for them or make posts concerning their native wardrobes and  since it’s Father’s Day I decided to dedicate this post to every outstanding Dad out there who work very hard to play their roles in their respective families and also endeavour to step out in style.

Above all I will like to celebrate my Late Father- Mr. S.B Atoyebi. Who is also my hero, prophet, prayer warrior, my first teacher, my financial advisor, word addict and lover of books. Thank you for everything ! I love and miss you dearly.

Also, to my amazing husband who is actually God-sent, a great supporter and source of strength, Thank you for being an awesome Dad and a Super Hero to our angels.

Now let’s see these dapper dudes in amazing male outfits made from different cotton fabrics, Ankara and Atiku as we celebrate Father’s Day:

MEN IN NATIVE

MEN IN NATIVE

Hello Everyone,

You all noticed have not been posting regularly on the blog these days? It’s all about the planning of Nigeria’s first ever textile fair tagged fabrics meets designers. The day is almost here (6.12.2014) and because this is the first one am organizing, it’s a bit stressful but God has been awesome and have connected theasoebijunkie to amazing people.

Did I tell you there’s going to be a raffle draw at the fair? Yes, apart from the free fabric goody bags to the first 50 shoppers, there is going to be a raffle draw to win amazing luxury fabrics given to us from our sponsors: NHN COUTURE, BOSCH&COKG and FASHIONSTARFABRICS!

So you can’t afford to miss the fair, Venue is Our Place, 7 olufunmilola okikiolu Street off Toyin street Ikeja Lagos from 10 am to 7pm . Tell your friends to tell another friend and also invite your family members and all fabric lovers. It’s a good time to also shop for new fabrics at affordable prices for the Christmas season.

Today’s post is based on a new series tagged “MEN IN NATIVE” which will focus on showcasing stylish African men in African fabrics/attires.

I have been doing a lot of post on women and their amazing styles in different fabrics and I have also done posts on male aso-ebi here and here where I focus on the aso-ebi for men at different weddings. But this post is to showcase the African men in different fabrics, colors and style to inspire other male folks that will like to step out stylishly on Fridays to work or on Sundays to church services or to the next owambe they intend to attend.
